Will you be an Appeal Angel this Christmas?
A £50 gift will help enable a church to heat their space, providing a warm venue, warm food and warm welcome for up to 50 children.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT! With match funding, we will receive double the amount you generously give today. That makes a total of £100 towards changing the lives of struggling children!
Your donations to our urgent Christmas appeal will spread hope to children facing the pangs of hunger and the bite of cold this winter.
Together we will mobilise Make Lunch clubs to offer families support when it’s needed most.
We must urgently take action to help more children like Harry and Tommy
As prices rise, families are having to make the awful choice between whether to pay for heating or food. Or, whether they can even afford either.
We want to ease the burden on families by providing practical and emotional support to children whose wellbeing hangs in the balance.
Christmas; a time of joy, peace and... hunger?
For thousands of children, a joyful Christmas is distant dream. Hungry and cold, these children are only asking for warm meals and warm homes this Christmas. Their parents are making harsh decisions about whether to put on their heating, work their kitchen hob, or whether they have money left for food in the first place.
Poverty and food insecurity are great un-levellers. They create monstrous challenges for struggling children; meaning their opportunities disappear, their hope fades and their childhoods are marred by worry.
The cost of living crisis is having a detrimental impact on Harry's family as well as thousands of others. Children's physical and emotional wellbeing will see a colossal decline as families simply can't afford to live. There’s never been a time where TLG Make Lunch has been more relevant than now.
Twice the gift, twice the impact: all gifts given by Christmas Day DOUBLED!
TLG partner churches are standing in the gap during at this critical moment in this cost of living crisis.
TLG Make Lunch Clubs are active across the UK, poised to provide struggling children with warm food, a warm venue and a very warm welcome. But more needs to be done. With the number of children living in poverty rising swiftly, we simply must take action today.
TLG are waiving the training & resourcing set-up fee for churches to train as a Make Lunch club in order to equip more churches to open their doors this Winter. We also recognise that that the increase in fuel costs will prevent some churches to open their doors without support, despite having the volunteers able to respond. We are therefore also supporting new partner churches with seed funding, to enable them to open their doors to struggling children despite the challenges that so many churches are facing.
By the end of this year in the UK, 11 children in every classroom of 30 will be classed as living below the poverty line.
Work does not provide a guaranteed route out of poverty in the UK. 75% of children growing up in poverty live in a household where at least one person works.
- Department for Work and Pensions, 2021
More than a quarter of children from the poorest families said they had been bullied because their parents couldn't afford the cost of school.
- The Children’s Society
Children who get free school meals are less likely to get A*- C grades at GCSE than wealthier peers.

Join our army of Appeal Angels who are literally opening (church) doors for children this Christmas.
Your decision to support this appeal with your generous donation could enable a TLG partner church to support an average of 40 children & their families every session this Winter. Together we will welcome children in to loving communities. We will answer the persistent knocking of hungry tummies. And we won't let any child struggle alone.
Thank you for taking action to spread hope this winter!
*All gifts will be unrestricted so that we can be responsive, enabling us to help children and support churches where the need is greatest.
